The chronicle of Flabob Airport illustrates how dreams of flight were able to create a state-of-the-art aviation complex from a patch of farmland with a roughed-out dirt strip. It is about aviation pioneers, home builders, meticulous replicas, and camaraderie. With the involvement of Tom Wathen in 2000, Flabob embraced the airport’s future by creating a unique aviation-based environment to inspire and educate young people based on the mission of the Wathen Center – Inspiration through Aviation.
Flabob Airport is home to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Chapter One. Its members are integral to the success of the Wathen Center mission by volunteering as mentors and hosting outstanding events. Most importantly, the story of Flabob Airport is about friendships and family.
